When WE Believed the Lie
Genesis 3:4-6
(The Message)
4-5 The serpent told the Woman, "You won't die. God knows that the moment you eat from that tree, you'll SEE what's really going on. You'll be just like God, knowing everything, ranging all the way from good to evil."
6 When the Woman SAW that the tree looked like good eating and realized what she would get out of it—she'd know everything!—she took and ate the fruit and then gave some to her husband, and he ate.
Open My Eyes
But if your EYES are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
Your EYE is the lamp of your body. When your EYES are good, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are bad, your body also is full of darkness.
But God's angry displeasure erupts as acts of human mistrust and wrongdoing and lying accumulate, as people try to put a shroud over truth. But the basic reality of God is plain enough. Open your EYES and there it is! By taking a long and thoughtful look at what God has created, people have always been able to SEE what their EYES as such can't SEE: eternal power, for instance, and the mystery of his divine being. So nobody has a good excuse. What happened was this: People knew God perfectly well, but when they didn't treat him like God, refusing to worship him, they trivialized themselves into silliness and confusion so that there was neither sense nor direction left in their lives. They pretended to know it all, but were illiterate regarding life. They traded the glory of God who holds the whole world in his hands for cheap figurines you can buy at any roadside stand. (aka Idols)
My Hope
So if you're serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it! Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don't shuffle along, EYES to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that's where the action is. See things from his perspective.
Remind My Eye’s
But _______, you're not in the dark, so how could you be taken off guard by any of this? You're sons of Light, daughters of Day.__________, you live under wide open skies and YOU know where YOU stand. So let's not sleepwalk through life like those others. Let's keep our EYES open and be smart. People sleep at night and get drunk at night. But not ME! Since I am a creature of Day, let ME act like it. ________walk out into the daylight sober, dressed up in faith, love, and the hope of salvation!
CALL out to the Promise!
So let God work his will in ___________. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper. Say a quiet yes to God and he'll be there in no time. Quit dabbling in sin. Purify your inner life. Quit playing the field. Hit bottom, and cry your EYES out. The fun and games are over. Get serious, really serious. Get down on your knees before the Master; it's the only way you'll get on your feet.
God’s Answer
"Here's what I want you to do: Buy your gold from me, gold that's been through the refiner's fire. Then you'll be rich. Buy your clothes from me, clothes designed in Heaven. You've gone around half-naked long enough. And buy medicine for your EYES from me so you can see, really see.
Prayer
Father God we come before you SEEking your sight! You are the God who sees endless possibilities for our lives! You SEE us exactly how you made us, and I thank you Father God that you will look deeper into our eyes and reach our soul during this process! We aim to keep our eyes steady on you just like Peter did when he walked with you on water! We position ourselves to see you in every moment of our day for this point forward, because we know you have the very BEST for us, and though we may not see the final results, or understand the things around us, we stand on the scripture that we SEE before us! We can see that you LOVE covers a multitude of sins, and we are Grateful! Remove thin sin from our eyes, remove the things we have seen that has hurt us, remove the memories of being violated, remove things we saw when we saw people we love fighting, remove the sight of deaths too soon, remove the scars from our vision FATHER GOD!
We SEE you in the spirit passed our flesh, letting the vision around our eyes be nothing but FAITH. In the name of JESUS!!!
